Leah Spagrud decided to show up on the planet at the end of the 80’s, in Red Deer, Alberta. Her introduction to art came from her grandmother Florence in the form of a beautiful butterfly painted upon her 4 year-old face. It was love at first sight. Never again was there enough time in the day to create each piece of art she wanted to.
In 2007, she followed her artistic passion, and began her scholarly pursuits at Red Deer College, graduating with a Diploma in Visual Arts in 2009. In 2010, she moved to Edmonton to pursue a BFA in sculpture at the University of Alberta. After a lot of thought and time spent thawing out from the chilly Edmonton winter, she realized that her heart would forever belong to pottery. She knew her academic efforts would be better served at Alberta College of Art + Design, where she graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2013.
After graduation, Leah packed up her life and her cat and moved back to Red Deer, where she set up a small pottery studio. She spends the majority of her time making pottery, but also finds time to daydream, draw and sculpt.
